Day 4: Tuesday 12-19-12
We (Lexi, Amparo and I) had breakfast and got ready to meet Amparo’s friend, Martha for lunch at her house. Lexi and I fell in love with Martha’s house. Her house was surrounded by nature with all kinds of plants and a river nearby. (look at the pictures on the Photos from Calí page) Also, the dinning area extends into the back pouch and is literally open to the beautiful lush forest in her backyard. It was gorgeous and we decided that Lexi needs to buy a vacation house like this one and I, the poor teacher, can borrow it. What can I say, we like to dream big. While we waited for lunch to be ready we explored the neighborhood, which was beautiful. We had lunch and then watched the episode of “La Voz, Colombia” that Amparo had missed because of a Novena.
From the day I got to Calí, Amparo had been on two missions: 1) to make sure I improved my Spanish by only speaking in Spanish the whole time and 2) to find Lexi and I, YOUNG friends to take us out. So naturally, Amparo asked Martha if she knew of any young people for us to meet. Come to find out that Martha’s grandson (18 years old) was actually coming to Calí in a few days. So, Martha called her grandson and he invited us to hangout with his friends on Friday night.
After that we went home for a nap, a snack and to get ready for the Novena. This night the Novena was at Claudia’s house (Amparo’s niece). Claudia was very excited for Lexi and I to go to her Novena because she was serving tamales typical of a region in Colombia (I can’t remember which region but I know they weren’t the ones from Calí). After the Novena we had the tamales and dessert; all of it was delicious.
